Statement on Disorder in Liverpool South

Last night police officers dealt with a number of incidents of disorder across Liverpool South and in doing so demonstrated personal courage, dedication and professionalism.

Tonight, officers will once again be deployed onto the streets in greater numbers to prevent further violence and to reassure residents. Officers will be working long hours and on their days off to ensure the safety of our communities.

Other officers will be deployed in investigating last night's events and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

Merseyside Police Federation would ask that the people of Merseyside recognise the bravery and professionalism of our police officers and to continue to support them in their endeavours and provide information to assist in our investigations.
