Annual Leave Entitlement

Q What is/are my annual leave entitlements?

ANNUAL LEAVE ENTITLEMENT (Expressed as 8 hour days)

Less than 2 years          22 days

2 or more years             25 days

5 or more years             25 days

10 or more years            27 days

15 or more years            28 days

20 or more years            30 days

Our advice to all officers would be to plan your leave as far ahead as possible within your leave year. If you leave making your annual leave request to the last minute, then you run the very real risk that the request will be declined due to operational needs. If you want to take a late booking then book the period for the leave and negotiate with the travel agent later.

Do not book your holiday and then approach the Force for the time off, you may be declined the leave and the force will not pay any cancellation charges you incur.

Every officer is entitled under Force policy to take 2/3rds of their leave entitlement during the summer period. This period runs from the 1st May to 30th September each year.

CANCELLATION OF ANNUAL LEAVE

If you are recalled to duty from a period of annual leave you are entitled to be compensated, providing that the leave period was for 3 or more days. The period doesn’t have to be solely annual leave although one duty must be annual leave (i.e. T/O, AL, RD i/l, is suitable)

The compensation will vary according to the number of days cancelled.

For the first two days cancelled in any leave period, you are entitled to two leave days for each day lost or one leave day and a further day at double time.

For any subsequent days lost you are entitled to a day and a half for each day or a days leave and half a day at double time.

This compensation package also applies to any future periods of leave which are cancelled.
