Improved Benefits to an Improved scheme

We mentioned in the latest Insight magazine that we were tendering our scheme, and we can announce that we are changing providers to Philip Williams and Company, based in Warrington. They are an established Insurance broker who provide schemes to over 20 Police Federations in England and Wales. We are still finalising the price for the scheme, but some of the new benefits are listed below. We will be writing to all members in the near future with full details.

• -  Life insurance increased to £100,000 with an option to top up to £150,000
• -  Personal Accident Insurance increased from £60,000 to £100,000
• -  Critical Illness Insurance increased to £10,000
• -  Introduction of Denplan
• -  Introduction of Homeserve Utilities Insurance
• -  Sickness benefit of 20% of salary scale
• -  Temporary disablement benefit increased from £14 to £21 per week
• -  Terminal prognosis benefit of 20% of life sum assured
• -  Travel and Legal Expenses cover are still included, as are Financial Services from Kinsella Clarke

There are also improvements to Spouse / Partner cover, and extensive improvements to our scheme for retired officers. The big bonus here is we now introduce a right of passage from the serving officer scheme into the retired officer scheme. There is no requirement to provide any evidence of health for either the member, or indeed spouse / partner. I am sure you would agree, all of our schemes have been considerably improved. The new schemes will commence on The 1st of April 2010.
