What Is It?
The Merseyside Police Orphans Fund is a charity that supports the children of Police Officers who have either died or have become incapacitated to such an extent that they are unable to provide for thier children. Children are classed as person 16 years of age and under, however further support can be provided for children who enter higher education up to 18 years of age.
Currently the Fund provides each orphan with a quarterly allowance of £400, a summer gift of £200 and a Christmas gift of £150. One reaching the age when the fund rules can no longer support the orphan they are awarded a final gift of £500. These levels are about to be reviewed.
The Fund is supported by subscription from the members which is still 28 pence per four weeks and which requires a rule change and consultation to amend.

How Do I Join?
Joining the fund: members of the Management Committee attend the recruit classes and generally receive a 100% positive response. Anyone who wishes to join need only complete the pro-forma provided.
Whilst the Committee needs to be kept at a reasonable number to conduct its business any help from staff who wish to promote the work of the fund in Areas/Departments is always welcome and volunteers should contact John McDermott or any person on the attached list.
